SOP - Sounds of Prevention
Youth will be trained in SCED
Prevention programming such as: HIV prevention, gang violence, bullying,
etc. and asked to compose the following; rap, gospel, R&B, poetry,
and the spoken word. Once
completed, youth will participate in open microphone night/day.
Youth involved in activities
in the building as well as community youth will be invited to
participate in the judging of individual project. The winner will
record their prevention message at Land Of Rock recording studio located
in the training center of the building. The recorded messages will
be marketed State and Nationwide as youth prevention messages.
Acting and Dancing Classes
Classes will be conducted by a local
production company to train youth in acting and dancing. We will host
dinner theater with youth performing skits, plays and musicals, this will
also be utilized as fund raisers.
POP - Puppets On Prevention
Youth trained in SCED prevention
programming
will be taught to deliver POP or
other prevention messages utilizing
puppets, SCED will utilize the
old baptismal pool as a puppet
stage. Puppet
 training
will be done by college work
study students and students enrolled in early childhood development
courses. These performances will be geared toward elementary age
youth and others as deemed necessary.
